A SUPERB defensive effort by the Canterbury Bulldogs has helped them to a thrilling two point win over the Melbourne Storm.

The Storm had the bulk of the opportunities on their home ground but were unable to crack the Bulldogs brick wall defence in the second half.

In a gripping affair, each side scored only one try each with a Trent Hodkinson conversion proving the difference.
The Storm had a chance to lock the game up at 6-6 when Cameron Smith opted to take a penalty shot from the sideline with only a few minutes remaining but pushed it wide.

Kevin Proctor scored the only try of the first half when he crashed over after some great lead up work by Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk.

James Graham popped a miracle ball to Sam Kasiano who crashed over to level the scores in the second half before Hodkinson added the extras.

Earlier, the Warriors thrashed the Eels 48-0 at Mt Smart Stadium, scoring eight unanswered tries.
