Queensland's Origin preparation were thrown into disarray last night with five-eighth Johnathan Thurston spending match eve in hospital.

The Maroons superstar was taken to hospital with stomach pains.

Maroons assistant coach Trevor Gillmeister broke the shock news live on Channel Seven news, just over an hour before kick-off.

Thurston is expected to play in tonight's Origin II having re-joined his teammates today.

The Maroons will start the match 1-17, with no changes to their starting side named by coach Mal Meninga last week.
