Western Wanderers recruit Tomi Juric is the surprise selection in a 20-man Socceroos squad of A-League based players chosen to prepare for next month's East Asia Cup.
Juric played seven games for Adelaide at the end of last season, scoring twice, before signing a two-year deal as a replacement for misfiring Dino Kresinger for 2013-14.
Juric, 21, has spent the past five years playing in Croatia for Croatia Sesvete, Lokomotiva and Inter Zapresic.
This is the first Australian call up at any level for the western Sydney native.
Socceroos head coach Holger Osieck will get the players together at Tuggerah and Gosford on the NSW Central Coast from Monday to Friday next week.
Among those in the squad who featured prominently in Australia's recent World Cup qualifiers are Adelaide's Dario Vidosic, Archie Thompson on Melbourne Victory and Michael Thwaite of Perth Glory.
