Gorden Tallis has labelled troubled Gold Coast Titans forward Dave Taylor as someone who doesn't care and has no conscience.

The back rower was dumped by the Titans this week after breaching team rules and will miss two weeks of football as a result.

The Titans refused to elaborate on Taylor's two-match ban on Tuesday, with coach John Cartwright saying the Queensland State of Origin forward had broken team rules.

There were suggestions Taylor's attitude had not been right and that had contributed to Cartwright's stand.

Speaking on Fox Sports' NRL360, Tallis said he believes Taylor is disinterested and noncommittal.

"I think he's a guy that doesn't really care; I don't think he has a conscience," Tallis said.

"I think he does it for a lifestyle. He's going to be one of those guys that's going to move around club to club and everybody thinks they're going to get that special Dave Taylor.

"I just wish the penny would drop."

Tallis said Taylor's natural ability is on show for all to see but his mental strength is letting him down.

"On ability he could certainly be the most damaging forward that we could see," he said.

"He has great speed, a great step, every skill you want but he doesn't have the mentality to play with it.

"I just wish he would grow up a little bit."
